Help with Michelin satnav on pda

A mate of mine has just bought the above mentioned package and hasn't managed to get it to work yet.
First of all the GPS (cable) receiver hasn't picked up a fix on satelites yet. I have changed the settings to com1 so we hope this will work. Any one know if this is right?
Also i have tried to find out what format his POI's are to get the speed camera on there, but no idea what it uses?? Also any idea what folder to put them into if i succeed in finding out?
Any help would be great as i don't rate the software much and have no interest in spending too much time on it.
