Tom Tom BT II turns off when not communicating with pc/pda

Sorry if its been asked before, my search didn't find it.

My new Tom Tom BT (mk II) receiver turns itself off after 5 minutes even if it gets a fix my PC or PDA is switched off . As I plan to keep it running concealed in the car this means I will have to physically power it up on each use. Is this normal or is it a fault?

This is on full charge and regardless of whether it is attached to the charger.

well, I found the answer to my question - the user guide (buried on the Tom Tom site, but not supplied with the receiver) says it turns of to conserve the battery if not connected to pda.

So this means I can't place it anywhere that isn't accessible from the driver's seat (I have a section of the rear shelf in my GTV covered in speaker cloth where an optional extraspeaker would have been that would have been an ideal location, with a clear view of the sky, yet hidden from view).

So I guess that's it, unless anyone has any ideas.

Doesn't seem much point in bluetooth, really.

(apart from this it performs fine, however).
