WE received enquiries from time to time about connecting Raod Angel to a PDA.

Since we do not know anything about Road Angel, our answer was always to ask the GPS manufacturer.

Though I do not have one on hand, I have done some study and the concludion is that Road Angel is the same as any other serial GPS for connection purpose.

It has a standard serial output (female DB9) to connect to a PC.

To connect to a PDA, you can use a male>male 9-pin null modem adapter (DB9N) to connect to the serial sync cable of your PDA (Visor/Clie T/NR/NX excluded).

We have serveral options supporting over 90% of recent PPC and Palm devices.

(These also apply to any other standard** serial GPS devices with DB9 serial interface)

-------------------------------------------

Serial/modem/GPS interface (null modem adapter built in):

Ipaq 36/37xx - PQSM

Jornada 54/56x - PHJSM

XDA - PXSM

Palm M5xx/Tungsten - P50SM

Sony Clie S/N series - PSSM

Sony Clie newer models - PSTGS

These connect directly to serial GPS.

But these are all short cables (20-30cm) designed to connect to a serial cable, you will need a serial extension cable (9-pin male>female) for practical purpose.

---------------------------------------------

GPS interface for PDA + serial GPS interface (G9XPM)

You need the serial GPS interface G9XPM (http://pc-mobile.net/g9xpm.htm)

PLUS the GPS interface of your PDA:

Ipaq 36/37xx - GQ36

Ipaq 38/39/54xx - GQ38

Casio E11x/12x/EM500 - GCA1

Jornada 54/56x - GHJ5

XDA- GXDA

Palm M5xx/Tungsten - GP50

Sony Clie S/N series - GSN7

Sony Clie T/NR/NX/SL/SJ/NX - GST6

Visor D/L, Prism - GHSV

Axim - GAX5

Fujitsu LOOX - GFLX

Viewsonic V35/Mio - GV35

These work out to be more expensive but more flexible

-----------------------------------------------

GPS combo interface with power input.

These work the same way as above but with power input option

(so you need G9XPM plus one of the follow):

iPaq 38/39/54xx - GQ38p

XDA- GXDAP

Palm M5xx/Tungsten - GP50p

Sony Clie S/N series - GSN7p

Sony Clie T/NR/NX/SL/SJ/NX - GST6p

Viewsonic V35/Mio - GV35p

And appropriate power source (CKUC/CPUC/PB4A) if needed.

Others do not need a combo interface because there is separate power input

------------------------------------------------

**Standard serial GPS means GPS with standard NMEA output AND work with only RX/TX/GND connections.

Some serial GPS (e.g. Delorme, Rand McNally) require DTR connection or output different format so are not classified as standard (as far as we are concerned) so these will not work. You have to consult your GPS manufacturer if in doubt.

GAX5 does not work on its own.

Please see information (prices and many other things) on our web site.

It is very likely because of incorrectly configuration of Ipaq/GPS/software. Any one would have caused it.
