Position and speed are routinely displayed by software - GPS receivers themselves tend to return that information.

If you want waypoints and tracklogs with a receiver that has no display of its own, you'll need Pocket PC software to provide that. Street navigation software like TomTom Navigator 2 really won't suffice for this.

There's various options you could investigate. Fugawi UK may be a good choice if you want topographic maps (it seems there's a few glitches with the current version, but Fugawi have supplied information in the Fugawi forum here on Pocket GPS and are promising a maintenance release soon).

For more traditional GPS receiver functions, I don't know of any really strong recommendations. I know of GPSDash - I'm sure there's plenty of other options.

Something that outputs OSGB coordinates would be nice!

I suspect if I'm persuaded to part with any more money that I'll buy the Fugawi UK that covers my area, as it seems to be not a lot more expensive than some of the better 'GPS receiver on your Pocket PC' programs. It it would be useful to know what others think. For a start - how much memory does Fugawi UK use when you have the maximum 1600 square kilometres in your Pocket PC? Does it provide functions like a typical standalone GPS receiver?
