Hi all,

I am looking at buying a GPS solution for my ipaq. I was going with Tomtom navigator 2.0, but after reading the review am not so sure wether I should go down the navman route, can you add POI's to the navman software?.I have heard, right or wrong, that the navman does not work very well in cars with 'reflecting' windscreens ( Carphone installers had problem locating a suitable point for the aerial ).

Any help would be great.

Navman GPS might have some problems with a reflective screen, but you could get a re-radiating antenna to bring the signal inside the car. We've just done some testing in an Audi A8 with just such a device, and it works very well.

Navman SmartST does not currently have the facility for adding user POIs. As Mike at Trafcam has said, any reception issues caused by a anti-glare windscreen etc will affect any GPS receiver that does not have an external antenna although the GPS Mouse types at least allow a degree of flexibility in positioning unlike jacket type receivers. if you do have problems, a re-radiating antena will normally cure them or choose a system that allows the fitting of an external antenna.
