Navman 4100 & Fortuna U2

Some time ago I asked the question about whether my Navman 4100 was capable of using EGNOS data to give a DGPS fix and the answer was that it could. At the time EGNOS was not available, but now it is, although a bit erratic.

So I was looking into my GPS items and doing some test using Crux-view with two copies open on my Pc. I had a Fortuna U2 USB device connected to com 4 at a Baud rate of 4200 & my Navman 4100 Bluetooth device on com 5 at 57000 Baud.

Both acquired a fix in a blink of an eye, the Navman seemed to have higher signal strengths but on fewer sats wheras the U2 had more sats but at lower signal strengths. The big difference is that the U2 had a 3D + DGPS fix but the Navman was 3D only.

Next I contacted Navman for some tech advice and they totally confused the situation. Apparently they do not have any devices that are EGNOS compatable and in order to receive & use the EGNOS data you need an extra receiver. So they must have been given wrong data from somewhere as many GPS units on the market are sold as WAAS/EGNOS compatable, so it's a shame that a company like Navman is not able to give correct info to it's customers.

From this has anybody got any further info that may give or lead to a definative answer ?
