No go I'm afraid I even tried putting the files straight into the POI folder in the 1490. And yes there is a .unl file with the Travel Guide .gpi file.

Afraid not. I just tried it and all that's in there is some custom POI's.
Perhaps it has to be in a different folder to be recognised by the 1490.
