Just to clarify a point the 2008 mapping is effectively v10, after v9 Garmin adopted a different naming convention.

Although you've only just purchased the update it's been available, albeit only with new units, since the later part of last year. At that time it was pretty current.

Does not work for my i3 either.

My i3 came in a sealed box on offer a couple of years ago from Quick Save. There was NO yellow card included with it so cannot register it on the Garmin web site.

Not sure about the Nuvis but on my Quest and StreetPilot 2720 there's an option in the menus for the map scale that the POIs show up at. Usually this defaults to 'Auto' but you can select other manual ...

used the new POI loader to transfer the POIs and MP3 (same names, etc) to my StreetPilot 2720.
Result? Back to the Bongs! No spoken warnings at all.
