Its a minor point but I eventually managed to upgrade to V2 (and then came back to V1 as I found problems under tree cover). Downloading the code in both instances was a right pain and took many many ...

I contacted Fortuna and they did kindly supply me with the old XT V1 code.

I haven't yet tried to downdate back to V1 so can't yet comment on the technical feasibility but I did see that ForestRang ...

Never had such fancy stuff for my unit (one of the early ones into the UK I think).

I bought some sticky sided magnetic tape from Farnell (www.farnell.com) and this worked a treat on the dashboard.

I agree that the V2 performance appears better under open skies. My problems occurred specifically when reduced signal situations under trees or with the GPS in my pocket.

I've asked Fortuna to release the old code again but have as yet had no response (only a day or two ago).

I'll let you know if I receive it.

Thought I'd add my views on this also as a reasonably experienced GPS and Fortuna user (I think !).
