Just purchased a new 940 unit and noticed it came with V8.10 maps. To quote the booklet:
"If a newer version of your map is available during the period immediately after you purchased your TomTom Navigator device, then you are entitled to download the latest Maps"
Why then are they trying to charge me £39 when I attempt to do this. Fair enough for the map updates subsequent to purchase, but i would have thought that with a brand new device you were at least entitled to the latest maps?

You should indeed get the free map update, I would give them a ring in the morning (0845 161 0009) be prepared to send a fax of your sales receipt and request BOTH maps are updated for free - Mike |

I had this problem as well
I think you have to use the menu option from top line of tomtom home it does not appear in large buttons in the window
mine now seams to be slowly installing
if you go via mytomtom online you are asked to pay for update |

Hi Scooper 1,
Well spotted!,I completely missed that, they dont exactly go out of their way to make it obvious.
Looks like an overnight download is on the cards given the size of maps.
Thanks again
