I was reading through the wall of shame message. Did any of the users whose files were found being shared offer any explanation?
The only reason for asking is because a lot of people that install peer2peer type programs do not realise they are often showing the world the contents of their hard drive and anyone can take the files. They could be redistributed by others.
Some peer2peer programs also "seed" files without permission to share on bittorrent indexes.
Get securing your systems if you haven't already and look at what is on offer. Why not release some fake files on the networks to fool people and cause havoc! |

I see where you are coming from but this is not entirely correct.
Its been a while, but when I did try P2P, one designated a "sharing" directory on the HD for the P2P system to access, and not the entire drive.
For someone to share via P2P, files must be deliberately placed in that "sharing" folder.
The whole reason for this is to segregate data one is not willing to share. |
