Hi Everyone,
I changed from using TomTom software on my Navigo SY-885 to using Miomap v3.3, but for the life of me i can't figure out which set of speedcams to use on this site.
I have a subscription, and have been happy with the cams for TomTom, I just prefer the MioMap software and don't want the cams to force me back into using TomTom software... |

I don't know your software myself, but if you look at the big green and yellow compatibility chart HERE, there is an entry for MioMap 3.x under "m" for "Mitac Mio". On the right is a link to the instructions.
It also says the format is "MTC [select MioMap V3(.MTC)]
(uses heading data)" |

Thanks for the reply. |

Ok, now I remember why this frustrated me before:
I uploaded the new SpeedCams.mtc to the POI folder on the SD card and popped it back into my Navigo.
Booted the GPS device, loaded the miomap 3.3 software, but I can't figure out how to turn on the speedcams as POI's...
The original speedcams locations that came with the Miomap software is in the form of three files:
AUS-TrafficControl.txt
speedcam.spdb
SpeedcamUpdates.spud
But the new GPSW.com file is:
SpeedCams.mtc
These are completely different file types. To me, this would seem the cause of the problem.
Ideas? |

Miomap 3.3 is very different to 3.2 and earlier, and it uses a different format of speedcams file.
How did you get MioMap onto your Navigo? I thought it was only available on Mio hardware. |

Delete everything in the Speedcam folder, including the above files which will be re-generated after you've added the camera file.
Download the PGPSW iGO speed cams, unzip and put the camera .txt file/s, according to which one of the two you have chosen, in the speedcam folder. No need to copy the .bmp files.
Start your device. It may appear to 'hang' but wait a minute or so and it will carry on loading. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

It really just a case of me dragging and dropping the files onto the Navigo, as it is a CE platform device.

Having had a thorough look through the contents of the MioMap SD card files I find there are two folder that seem to contain speedcam files and both labelled as POI folders:
X:\POI\speedcam\speedcam.spdb
X:\POI\speedcam\SpeedcamUpdates.spud
X:\MIOTC\POIS\POIUpdates.upd
X:\MIOTC\POIS\SpeedCams.mtc
Which folder should the new GPSW .txt files be going into?
Will I need to keep the other files and location folder?
When the correct folder for the speedcams has been identified, should the other be the location for the general POIs that I wish to also have on the device?
Sorry for all the questions, but I am hitting a brick wall with this...

Mio and iGO software is locked to the SD Card so unless your device has a SD Card slot this could be your problem.
The same would apply if you copied the contents of the original card to say a 4MB Card, it wouldn't work. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Can I ask where did this software you have put on the device actually come from??
As others have pointed out it is locked to the card it is supplied with, so if you have got it working by copying files to another storage medium something isn't quite right - Mike |

I got the software from a torrent site (i think).
I copied the contents of the downloaded .zip file to my a spare SD card and the miomap software works fine.
I've been on about 10 long distance journies with the new software and it works perfectly, just no speedcams.
Sorry if I seem stupid, but why would software designed to run on a Windows CE device be locked to a specific device?
Am I turning two pages at once here?

To prevent it being illegally copied and used on other devices, as you are doing.
Someone had to write that software, and they don't want free copies to be made from it without payment. |

Using illegal software isn't just stupid, it is more and simply put as plain wrong, we take a very dim view of any such action on this forum and will not tolerate discussion of such material. If you want to use the software you have tried please go and purchase a device that runs it legitimately - Mike |

Ok, apologies for rocking the boat on this one...
I was actually intending on purchasing the software, but rather than buy it then find out it wasn't what I needed I figured I try before I buy.
I'll shut up now. |
