3 months ago I decided to upgrade my Tomtom One to version 7. So I bought a new SD card and copied the whole system across. I did not upgrade at the time and the new card has worked perfectly for the last 3 months. The other day I took the plunge and allowed Tomtom Home 2 to upgrade the system to version 7. All seemed ok whilst it was plugged into the computer but when I tried to program a new route with it working handheld on battery it would just not switch on - press the on button and nothing. However, if I connect it via the usb charger in the car or on the computer it does start normally!
Also, if I put the original card back in, it starts up OK on battery and mysteriously, when I then replace the SDcard with the new one that starts OK once but thereafter refuses to start again. Does anyone know why this is happening? |

How long are you holding the power button down with the new software on? - TomTom have added this feature to prevent inadvertant switching on when the device is being carried, press and hold the power button for three seconds - Mike |

It does not matter how long I hold the button pressed - nothing happens! |

Hi
I had the same problem, all you have to do is reset the device by pressing the little reset button with a paper clip. Then switch OFF and back ON again and it will work OK. You will not loose any data you have stored on device by doing this . _________________ TOMTOM XL IQ routes. UK & ROF I App 9.510.1234792.2 Map UK &RI V945.6174 |

Thanks folks. Seems to have done the trick. Why do I always miss the obvious!!
PS do I need to do a reset every time I change/remove the SDcard now? |

You shouldn't have to. I think it does a pretty similar thing (if not exactly the same) when you remove/replace the SD card anyway.
Why not try it? (If you do it now, it won't come as a surprise when you have to do it on a rainy night in the middle of nowhere!) |
