For over a week now, I have been trying night and day to solve my Tomtom - Fortuna Bluetooth problem. I have been awake nights and I have missed meetings at work to try and solve this problem. After what must be 30 man-hours on the project, I am admitting defeat.
I know which driver to use (NMEA Bluetooth). I know which COM port (BT Serial COM8). I have established successful communication between my Pocket PC (IPAQ 1945) and the GPS unit.
But Tomtom won't believe it. All I get is the crossed-out plug in the bottom-left of the navigator vierw and no connection on the GPS Status screen in Tomtom GPS.
I am aware that others have got this to work. I don't know how they did it. Much credit to them.
For a long time I dreamed of owning a Mapping GPS solution. Now, I'm shattered, disillusioned and I just don't care any more... |

The crossed out plug icon means no external power connected and has nothing to do with the GPS function.
In the GPS Driver applet, once you have entered the relevant details and put a tick in the box to the left, switch to the status screen and tell me if you have scrolling black dots indicating successful communication? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I fully sympathise, I have felt that way myself. All I want to do is put it in the car cradle, switch on, start and away I go. But oh no, if I get TTN2 to work and then use Memory Map it won't work. Sometimes TTN2 doesn't start sometimes the BT doesn't work.
I upgraded to 2.07 and couldn't tick the box in the GPS screen.
On top of that my laptop keyboard keeps missing 2 characters hen I type!!
Sorry I haven't provided an answer! |

No, there is no connection. There's no sign at all from Tomtom that there's any GPS device connected at all, although PPC2003 Bluetooth manager does connect with it as a paired device quite quickly and painlessly. |

I had to use COM6 on my 4150. I struggled for hours trying to get COM8 to work but it turns out that you need to use the OUTGOING port because it's the iPAQ that makes the connection.
I usually also need a decent satellite fix for it to connect properly. |

Yes, it works.
At last.
Needed to use COM6 and NMEA Blutooth driver. Now it's working very well.
Hooray!
Thanks for all your help. |
