|
|
Please be gentle
i am trying to put the camera database onto my go 500
I have read what seems all the help posts and now out of desperation ask some questions;
following the lutz bindlin guide i download the zipped file from the site
its a 'zipped file' of 210KB
what is not clear do i 'unzip' the file before transfereing to my GO ?
If I unzip to a desktop folder i get 2 seperate folders POICapture
and SDK Reg
Open the POI folder and get 2 more files Icons and POI Capture
the SDK registry has 2 tom tom files 300 and 700
which by my interpretation the 700 needs to be re-named to nmu
does the 300 file stay as it is or is it deleted ?
as it wont let you re-name them both to the same name
After this copy the files and drop them into GB maps on the GO ?
my brian hurts !
I am sure its simple enough, but the more i read the more confussed iget
none of the files i have downloaded are OV2 files as suggested in another help post, my PC lists them as 'files' under properties
Question 2
I brought my 500 about 10 months ago and found that there are some errors when trying to navigate around the approach to manchester airport while obvious that ther has been some changes around there , they dont look that new, can i get a 'free' update to the UK map from TomTom ?
I live on the south side of leicester and would be happy to swap some beer tokens if anyone could show me how to put the POI in
thanks

You have downloaded the wrong Zip File. The File you have is the POICapture Application. Used to record the Locations of Cameras.
The File you need for the Speed Cameras is found HERE.
To download it you will need to be a Subscriber. You can Subscribe HERE.
The Help you need can be found on This Page. _________________ Richard

Thanks for the reply old boy
the 'lutz' procedure refers to the instalation of saftey camera's so i guess
i was misled by that
I am a subscriber, and i have now downloaded pgpsw-speed cams is that the correct one ?
afer unzip it has a file 'pocketworld single file, my PC recognises it as a 'cabinet file' of 347 KB ?
Thanks |

The size is right and don't forget the TOC File, as HOME needs it to know what is in the CAB.;) _________________ Richard

copied files over to my TomTom 500 and pasted them into GB map folder .
I can see the new files in the Tom Tom but when i go to the select them from the POI they are not displayed.
looked in the troubleshoot section which warns that version 2.201 (which is mine) has a max POI of 27 an move some out of the folder, the 'delete POI category'is on the touch screen is 'grey' abd will not operate
any thoughts
thanks |

pomm wrote: | .... version 2.201 (which is mine) has a max POI of 27 | Did you mean 5.201?
Version 5.201 did have a limit of 27 Custom POI's. You could have got more by upgrading to V5.440, which brought it up to 39.;)
The Icon will be 'greyed out' if it can't find any POI's to Delete. _________________ Richard

Those Files don't go on the 500!!
Have a read of This Topic.
It shows how to use the Files with HOME, which is the version you have downloaded. HOME then installs the POI's for you.;) _________________ Richard
