Hello...
I have a newly purchased TomTom navigator 5 on sd card and seem to be having problems installing correctly on my imate Kjam with winmob 5
I have copied the SD card on to my mini sd card and inserted in to my kjam
Following the instructions from TT, the tomtom auto install failed to work but I installed via the TTN.cab file and tomtom installed ok and set up ok.
The map install is the issue acording to the instructions I should have been asked to "activate" via ttcode.com and the kjam should provide me with a "device Code" that I input in to ttcode.com and get a code in return.
The kjam is not going to this option and I do not have a device code or a screen showing this
New user doing somthing very wrong but any help please :P |

When you copy the original SD card to the computer did you make sure that "Show Hidden Files" was enabled in Windows Explorer/ Tools/ Options, select the "View" tab to check.
If not please repeat the exercise of copying the card, if you have TTN5,21 loaded to the device it should work once presented with the correct data on the card - Mike |

When you say you have installed using the CAB file installer method, was this for the version 5,21 that you downloaded? - Mike |

The Activation is for the map, so without the map loaded you won't be prompted for an activation, put the map onto the memory card, insert the card to the device, power up and run up tomtom, at this point it should prompt for activation - Mike |

Thanks Mike
Maps are pre loaded on to the SD card and copied over to the Mini
Great_Britain-Map is the file name on the card this contains 10 icon and is 97MB in size 8 are .dat file 1 is a midi file and the last is a .pna file
I assume this is the map just does not seem to load.
None of the 10 files actually do anything other they bring up a screen saying unable to open

The map is fine. I would start over.
With a card reader Format your MiniSD to FAT 32.
Unhide files on your PC in tools/folder options/view.
Copy and paste everything from your SD to PC, and then to the MiniSD.
Uninstall Tomtom from your device and soft reset.
Using ActiveSync install TTNv5.21 from this link.
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&FID=3361
Insert the MiniSD and follow the screen prompts. |

I am beginning to think the original SD card might be at fault here, the file structure on the device isn't 100% (re your e-mail) - if you have the capabilty to try the SD card in another device I would do, but don't activate the map on the test device, insert the card and see if you can actually get to the activation screen, formatting the new card is an option worth trying though as I have had new cards supplied that are not actually blank to start with - Mike |
