|
|
I got the following error after switching to Route Demonstration mode for route planning purposes - the unit has been operating perfectly up till then.
The system started to calculate the route and gave a warning that a ferry journey was involved (which was not true!). This was followed by a number of errors (too quick to see details) and then the system crashed.
When restarted the following message came up when loading the maps.
OS_Init: Mapcache@00ef2450,
Size=40111024[]
:route buffer@03533000;
Restart
This error keeps occurring when I start the system.
Any advice would be really welcome .
Should I reset/format the system - and if so how do I do it? |

The original crash was due to a known bug in the V3 software, which can only be avoided by switching off the "warn if using ferries" option.
I don't know how/if you can get to that option before it crashes on startup (I have not had that problem on my 630). _________________ Tomtom Go 1005

You need to use the Bootloader menu. Hold down the 'On' button as you supply power to the unit... this will take you to the Bootloader. You will need to reformat the Hard Disc.. this option can be found quite easily. Once you have done that and the screen tells you the refomatting has been done, switch off the unit by unplugging the power supply.. there is no other way to do this that I know of.... my machine locked up from new, out of the box! I could not find any other way to get the unit to switch on normally.... Switch on as normal now and machine will boot up.. BUT you will have no maps !!!!!.........
You will then have to re-install ALL of your maps from your CD's using the Navman Desktop program on your PC.... if you have not yet registered your unit with Navman, this will now HAVE to be done, or else you will not be able to download the maps.
Hope this helps. |

For anyone else who has to reformat the disk (corrupted maps etc), while you are about it, you might want to dive a bit deeper in the menus and test the drives- takes a while but it will give you peace of mind that you don't have a disk hardware problem. Greg _________________ See web |
