|
|
Firstly i dont use the sirf demo program with my GPS receiver so i did not know what version it had previously. All i know was that it fell in the range that was eligible for a free upgrade, so i sent it off.
Do all units between this range have the old firmware upgrade?
Does this upgrade remove the need for pulling the battery when a fix is a problem? (i.e. not being able to get more than 3 satelites and temporarily losing this signal / or when loads of satelites are in view but a fix is not acheived / and when all the satelites start of in a straight line)
Also on my report is mention areas that were not blank and that needed to be erased. What is this and is it something that will re occur and i will need to do?
Just a quick note: Service was good but i, unlike some people, was kept in the dark a bit and i was left wondering wether they had received my gps receiver when it turn up back from easy devices but hey posted Saturday got it back on Wednessday. So hats off again _________________ HP iPAQ 2210 (Rom V1.10)

Just had two receivers back from easy devices with their firmware upgrades - fantastic service which cannot be faulted - no emails etc, but with a three day complete turnaround they wouldn't have had time. However, I'm not actually convinced it's made much difference. Perhaps I was expecting a bit much, but the accuracy doesn't seem any better - the little blue arrow is still 50 yards back down the road from where i am really and initial fix time is possibly better in that it is consistently around a minute. What I have noticed though is that positioning on roads close to each other - for example exits off roundabouts - TTM5 now seems to get wrong more often. Perhaps I'm looking harder than I did before, but at this point, when you consider that the upgrade actually costs around £12 when you figure in the recorded postage insisted on etc, if I'm not the only one wondering wether it was worth it, is it sensible to tell people that this is not an upgrade that suddenly makes your receiver a much better piece of kit. Comments welcome. |
