Hi,
Just wanted to post a comment re Global Positioning Systems Ltd.
Last friday at 4pm i ordered a TomTom Go 300 from their website along with SD card installation and the testing of the unit.
Impressively the gear arrived the next day at 8 30am in perfect working order.
Its not often that service as good as this is achieved so a big pat on the back to them. I would recommend anyone out there to purchase their sat navs from these guys,
Clank. |

I'd second that. Ordered a Mitac Mio from them, arrived the next day. Although there was a slight issue with the connector on the car charger (a manufacturing issue, not their fault), once I'd notified them they had ordered me a replacement within a couple of hours. It arrived a couple of days later.
Fantastic pre & post-sales service. Will definately recommend to others and use again.

Am I the exception to the rule then?
On 6th June, 4 weeks ago, I ordered a TomTom Navigator 5 Bluetooth, and also a GPS Ready Mount for Dell Axim X3, their Product Code: P2314. That's two items.
I received a text later that day stating that the mount was discontinued and to contact them if I needed an alternative. As I didn't need an alternative I didn't contact them. Then, 4 days later, I received the following:
360 degree Swivel adapter SA1
1 Plate required for suction
1 dummy accessory for BT receiver
1 Suction Windscreen Pedestal
None of which I had ordered. I was charged £10.46 for these items.
No where on their website did it state that the GPS Ready Mount for Dell Axim X3 actually consisted of 5 parts, and that they would send out 4 parts, even if the 5th wasn't available.
As far as I am concerned, I therefore received, and paid for goods which I did not order, and which are absolutely useless.
I contacted GlobalPositioningSystems, and they took several days to reply. I had stated to them that I was not prepared to go out of my way, nor to the expense, to return to them goods which I had not ordered. I stated that they should send a courier to collect the items.
I received an email back, again several days later, stating that I should return the items, and include the receipt for postage, which would be refunded.
I leave home for work at 0630 in the morning, and return at 1800 in the evening. It would take an hour of my time to go to the post office near to my work place at lunchtime. I am therefore not in a position to return the items. As far as I am aware, the trading standard laws state that if a company sends you items by mistake it is there responsibility to arrange the collection of said items. I have therefore contacted my credit card company with regards getting a charge back issued.
I notice today that the downloadable invoice has changed to remove reference to the fact that I ordered a GPS Ready Mount for Dell Axim X3. Good job I kept the copy I downloaded last month eh?
That isn't my only gripe. When I ordered the TomTom their web site stated that they had 10 in stock. 4 weeks down the line it has still not arrived, and I have been told on a weekly basis that they have sold out, and that a new batch is expected. From what I have seen of their web site they have had 2 fresh batches, and still I am waiting.
I develop web applications, and have done so since 1996. It is extremely poor when an online applicaiton does not work with a live database. 9 years ago I was pulling live stock information out of an SQL table. It's not hard to do at all! |

I note that at this point in time their web site is stating 10+ available now. Wonder if I will get one tomorrow then? |

A few hours after posting the above I was contacted by Catherine from Global Positioning Systems and she changed my mind about the level of service from this company. We came to an agreement over the return of the incorrectly sent items, and she told me that she though that they had just had some TomToms in during the previous hour. One is one the way by upgraded before 1pm delivery. :D
I guess that maybe my 'case' just got lost somewhere in a system. It does happen, as we're only human.
Thanks for sorting things out Catherine. Not sure whether my email address is visible to you, or whether you worked out who I was by checking in your system, but thanks for going to the effort. A lot of companies wouldn't bother. |

Could you not have arranged for the courier to collect the items in the free time that you have when your delivery will be received? (before 1)
Forgive me for challenging! |

This company was fine as far as buying the mio unit but I have to say that after it became faulty the service was very poor indeed.
It was impossible to phone them they took money from my bank account without asking they did not comunicate between themselves & a Manager called Catherine was the only one who could sort things out but the tele sale manager was rubbish and very rude.
I did get a full refund in the end so they can't be all that bad but it was very stressful trying to comunicate with them. Maybe the manager (Catherine) could share her skills with the telesales manager?. |

Personally I found their customer service rude. I ordered a tomtom kit and didnt realise it was out of stock. I politely asked when it would be back in stock and i got a short abrute "it`ll be instock when it arrives".
not using them anymore. |

May I add another plaudit for GlobalPositioning systems.
I ordered TomTom5 over the phone on Monday afternoon and chose to have special delivery before 9am next (to save waiting in all day). After placing my order, they rang me back to verify my address and card details. I've no problem with this. Next morning at 8.30am Royal Mail delivered my TTN5.
Last month my Mitac168 (bought from them last October) needed to be returned for repair (under warranty) and I received it back a couple of weeks later - with new motherboard and new battery.
I have every confidence in this company and based on my experience can thoroughly recommend them. _________________ Nokia E65 & TT Nav6 |

Hi,
I have purchased from Global Positioning Systems 2 or 3 time & have spoken to them on the phone for pre-sales info. Spot on service every time. I can't fault them.
The only 'niggle' is the online order tracking which is supposed to track the order through the warehouse, it's updated every 15 mins but seems to take a bit longer (perhaps 30 min) to show the order, by which time payment has been taken, items picked, packed & in dispatch ready for collection. Ah well, if the only 'niggle' is the computer system can't keep up with the lads (& lasses) in the warehouse then I can't complain can I?
I will be placing yet another order with them today or tomorrow. _________________ If riding in a plane is flying then riding in a boat is swimming. If you want to experience the feeling
