I fixed the postcode problem with the help of this forum the other day, though I deliberately left the support question I had submitted to TomTom live such that I could see their response. This is what I recieved:
To use the full postcode search look up
tap 'navigate to ' then step through to 'Postcode' you can then ther the full postcode
If after doing this you still can not get a ful postcode look-up .
Ensure that you have installed the postcode file to the Sd card. If the problem still persists
try installing this file to the internal memory of the PDA rather than to the storage card.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
I therefore saw fit to respond as below, . Harsh but fair?
I have solved this problem via a pda/gps forum: www.pocketgpsworld.com. By creating a directory called 'tomtom' in the root of the card containing the \zip directory (that containing the postcode file), the 7 digit postcode function works properly. Using the internal memory for a 9 MB file is not a good option in my opinion. I would suggest you offer this advice to future queries (I'm sure there will be more queries as many people seem to be experiencing this problem) and it would be very helpful if it was made a FAQ in the support section of the website.
Thanks

Agreed.
I have also found it quite disappointing that I've got more support from people on these forums that from Tomtom.
It's a great product - and I do like it - but the support from Tomtom is rubbish.
Sorry!

Fair play, decent 2nd reply:
thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback
With best regards,

Wonder whether they will use the pocketgps way in future support? |

I had also raised it with them and gave them the fix from here. They came back and confirmed it does fix it, this was mid week so they should have known what’s what!
Tomtom, support, same sentence, I think not! |
