Does anyone know what GPS chipset will be used in the new range of GO's, and in the new official TomTom pocket PC bluetooth GPS receiver?? I am sure I read SirfStarIII somewhere but cant find it now. The TomTom website doesnt seem to go into enough detail on this.
I am hoping it is SirfStarIII as I am reading some glowing reviews of it.

Thats a real disappointment. I was hoping that the GO would contain the best technology available at the time (maybe during the development stage, this was the best?).
I realise SirfStarII is very good but what I have read about SirfStarIII being able to function indoors, in urban canyons and under thick tree canopy sounds fantastic. It sounds like a huge advance in GPS capability and to now shell out hundreds of pounds on something inferior is hard to do.
Maybe I should wait for next years model? But then SirfStarIV might come out!!!! I guess you have to jump on the merry-go-round at some point and accept it.
Thanks guys. _________________ TomTom Go 520, HTC Wildfire with CoPilot Live Premium UK & CoPilot Live Standard USA |
