Gah... Sorry, I forgot to mention the "Map Update service"!!
The prices for the Update service *are* a very good deal, but from memory that sounds almost too good...
I think it usually works out at slightly less then the price of a single full-price map for the year *if* yoouor map is not very old now.
When you go for the subscription deal, they do you an individual quote, and it's made up of two parts:
First, a price to update to the current latest map (at a very good discount rate but depending on how old your map is now - on a sliding scale).
And then a price for the next 4 maps.
So the price you pay is made up of those two figures.
I might be wrong ('cos I've only seen prices for the Western Europe maps), but your price of £19.80 seems just too good to be right.
If you check it again and it looks kosher, I'd jump at it. |

thanks for the heads up again
just checked - tomtom home says it can update the map and provide updates for the next 2 months for £19.80
it repeats that the total cost is £19.80 for 12 months
I will look into it over the weekend
thanks again |

I think you might just find the word "FROM" in amongst that pricing. Or maybe you haven't noticed that you ALSO have to buy the latest map (albeit at a discounted price) and the £19.80 is for the 12 months of updates.
But if £19.80 is correct, like Andy says, grab it fast! Indeed, if the price is less than the £40 for a map, grab it. _________________ Dennis

Had a quick look again on TT home
he map is indeed £19.80, but you have to buy 12 months upgrades at £19.80 too
So it is just under £40 for a map and upgrades
Does any one know, with the updates, is the direct debit set up as a CPA ??
thanks |

Mine is not direct debit and I haven't heard of anyone else having it either - it's simply payment up front of the full amount (your £40) by credit card or whatever over the internet. Be aware that for me using a NatWest debit card, they are the only company who require me to use the SecureCard payment procedure, which for me is an absolute pain - always takes me at least half an hour because I have no idea what my ID and password are, so I have to reset the flaming lot each time! It was the only method available to me otherwise I'd have used something else. I believe there are limits to the sort of plastic TT will accept. _________________ Dennis

I took the plunge and purchased a new map
I backed everything up before I installed the new map - I am well pleased with the new extras available (map share, corrections etc) - so thanks for the advice.
Now for another newbie type question
I have downloaded the latest copy of the camera database - everything is working fine, except that I have noticed that one of the mobile camera warnings is now out of position by about 500 yards on the new map - and yes I have seen the mobile van there last week
How can I go about changing the location and uploading the info
Thanks

Hi
just looked at the camera location map and tried to submit it without success (user error)
This is where it should be
Centre Latitude: 52.56641240256924 Longitude: -2.246682643890381
The one abot 500 yards nearer Wolverhampton is also valid I understand
hope this helps
Thanks

Big question is are you talking about the camera data from here or TomTom's own?
Assuming it is the database from here, you just go to the link on the left of this page just below the big blue speed camera sign that says "Submit camera positions now".
Look at the map at the bottom of the page and zoom in to find the incorrect camera.
Click on it and it will give you the ID number in the line of text immediately above the map.
Next. click on the text on that line that says "update submission form with camera details.
Now you can scroll the map by dragging it with the mouse until the blue "pin" in the very centre of the screen is exactly where you want to move the camera to.
Click on the "update co-ordinates for single submission" box top right of the screen, and that should change the Latitude and Longitude values in the boxes o be the new location.
Finally, change the "Action" box to "Change existing camera" and then "Send entry" to submit it |
