Hi, Can you tell me if I can run two TT's on one computer. I got myself in a bit of a mess a couple of weeks ago with my next door neigbours XL,I connected it to my computer and had to contact TT because it took over from my 520, they said has a favour they would reset my account back. Well now my uncle has rang me up and wants me to update his 510, but I cannot see how I can do it, TT have told me you can only have one devise (every six months) per computer.
Also what good will it do to connect it, it's a least three years old and has never been updated from new.
I only have one email account. |

So long as you ensure you log each device in with their own unique email address you'll be fine. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Each TomTom device must have it's own email account.
When the TomTom device is first connected to Home it asks what account it is assigned to, so at this point use the email address assigned to that device. |

You MUST have separate email addresses for separate devices. There are various places which allow free email addresses if your ISP doesn't allow you more than one (hotmail? googlemail? - I don't use any as I have lots of addresses from my ISP).
If you want to risk it, it has also been said that in fact, TT don't check the email address you register with, so long as it is in email format. For example if you create an account in TT Home with email address iamafalseaddress@nowhere.com for the 510, apparently TT accepts it quite happily!! You do also need to create the account on the TT website too if you intend to download any maps. A false email address would however mean TomTom couldn't contact you through it - some might consider that a bonus. I have never tried this method myself eiother, so I offer it without warranty, try it at your own risk.
I'd ask your uncle why he needs it updating now. At a guess, it's served him well enough, so why mend something which isn't broke? The only decent reason I'd consider would be map updating. If he's never updated, it'll probably have map version 650. The next map, version 675 (April 2007) was the first with the extended London Congestion Charge - he's managed without that for two years already. Sure, later maps are more up to date with changes to the roads network, but if he had been having trouble with them, he would surely have done something about it before now.
Bear in mind, you can update the device firmware (operating system Navcore) at no cost, but not the map - you have to buy that online (credit card) and download it online too (broadband connection needed). _________________ Dennis

Most ISPs will let you have several email addresses. Do you not already have one for each menber of the family?
Who is your Internet Provider?
By the way, I can confirm that the false email address method suggested by Dennis does work. |

I always get a free e-mail address when I am registering something. That way it always come with me if and when I change phone companies or ISP's. It stops any hassle associated with changing products over to new e-accounts.
I also fing that YahooMail & GoogleMail have less spam than some others. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
