Is there a file to look into with notepad or some other program to see what version of map and or navacore application you have backed up on your computer.
With all the different problems with the stu-dd-er-ing and refresh rate with the 8.30 app & 8.15 maps I have tried several different fixes and made several backups I didn't name them as to what they were.
So just wondering if there is a file that will tell me what they are. |

You couldn't ask that on this side of the ocean??
Look at a file ending in .pna in the root of the backup. That'll show the map version and other info.
I think you can also find useful information in the root (text) file called ttgo.bif. _________________ David |

You need to open the ttgo.bif file with wordpad or notepad.
This is located in the root folder of your device (or device backup)
The application and map version is listed, along with lots of other information about your device. _________________ -------------------------

Hi garcor
I know where to find the information that you seek when the Tomtom programme is on your device but have no idea where the information is stored on the computer/backup. But don’t worry, someone will soon put you on the correct path.
By the way, I too have many backups but they are all have a title. I also have a ‘Word’ document giving me all the information on each title/backup. Makes life easier. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Dunno about you, but my ttgo.bif's don't mention the map version at all.
Incidently, is the file still called ttgo on a "One"?

That *does* give the map version, but on all my backups it lives inside the map folder, not on the root. |

How odd....
I only looked at the one from my "Day One" backup of my 720 (all the rest are burnt to DVD or on a portable drive under a pile of papers!)
Here it is, no mention of map....
[TomTomGo]
DeviceName=TomTom Go
DeviceVersionHW=GO 720
DeviceSerialNumber=xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
DeviceUniqueID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
RamDiskVersion=20070629
BootLoaderVersion=54057
LinuxVersion=2614
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7000
ApplicationVersion=8286
UserLanguage=English UK
UserName=

GPSFirmwareVersion=GSW3.2.4TT_3.1.00.12-C35B1.02
BuiltInColorScheme0=Belgica
BuiltInColorScheme1=Brittanica
BuiltInColorScheme2=America
BuiltInColorScheme3=Germanica
BuiltInColorScheme4=Australia
BuiltInColorScheme5=Deuteranopia
BuiltInColorScheme6=Greys
BuiltInColorScheme7=Antarctica
BuiltInColorScheme8=Africa
BuiltInColorScheme9=Astra
CurrentColorSchemeBuiltIn=1
CurrentVoiceInfo=Kate
CurrentHomeLocation=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Traffic=N
CurrentFuelpricesType=
CurrentFuelpricesTypeString=
...and that's it!
But now I've just checked both my 940 and my *current* 720 ones and they have quite a bit more in them INCLUDING the map name and version, so I have to agree with you - that's how it is now.
Sorry for causing alarm and confusion |

We'll let you off this time, but don't let it happen again.
