|

Hi Guys,
I thought I'd treat myself to the new 810 map for my 720, but as I don't go anywhere near Europe, I purchased the UK map.
Installation went through fine, but shock and horror ! The voice recognition disappeared ! In a way I wasn't surprised - it was going all too well.
Does anyone have any idea about how to reactivate this ? I went through all the other guides on this subject, but they were all for previous map/firmware combinations (I have the latest navcore).
I don't use it very often, but it bugs me that something that was working perfectly is now suddenly nerfed.
Cheers
(Edit - sorry, forgot to say that I've tried it with and without the Western Europe map, making sure that the UK map was the map selected) |

Welcome to the forum, this is a long shot and I have not tried it but it might work:
In your Western Europe Map folder will be a file named cspeech_GBR.dat copy this to the new UK map folder and see if the ASR works, please make sure you have a full backup prior to trying this as I have not tried this out myself as yet - Mike |

Hi Mike - thanks for the reply.
I copied the file from my back-up to the UK map folder on the TomTom, as you suggested - nearly worked. I see that the options are now selectable, but whichever of the 2 spoken address options I choose, I get the same error message of "Input not recognised".
This is weird......Lol |

As I said it was a long shot, until I put the UK map on my device this won't be too easy to see what the device is doing, stick with it though as it should work, what version of the TomTom software have you got installed to the device? - Mike |

Panic Over !!!
Sorted it out -I went to the folder in C:\Users\*username*\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\map\Great_Britain_and_the_Republic_of_Ireland (or the newest folder in the maps folder).
Unzipped the "United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland.zip" file, and copied the files "cspeech_GBR.dat" and "cspeech_IRL.dat" into the map folder on the device.
It only bloody well worked - I'm quite pleased with myself, as it only took 3 hours of fiddling
Thanks for the suggestions, Mike |

I wonder if that's why there is no UK map for 8.1 any more ? |

There is a Great Britain & ROI map listed at version 810 still available, but the map is only offered when you select a device type of 520, 720, 530 and 730 - Mike |
