I want to have a larger memory card in my Tomtom 510 so as to download additional maps. The existing Tomtom card gives no indication of its size or type.
What would others recommend I get? Should I buy an SD card?

If you connect up you TT510 to your computer, it will show a new drive in the "My Computer" window - right-click on this drive, then left-click "Properties" at the bottom of the small window that appears. This will then show you the Used and Free space as well as the total capacity of the drive - its this capacity figure that will give you the approx size of the card.
And yes, its worth getting a bigger card, not only for additional maps or updates of current maps, but it will also mean your "original" SD card will be kept safe and secure. If anything goes wrong with the 2nd card you can use the original card to get your replacement card up and running again. _________________ "To Err Is Human - To Really Foul Things Up Requires A Computer! Look at #8 on the FAQ Page for details of copying the old card to the new one, 2GB should be OK for what you want, but get a good high speed card some of the cheaper ones don't work in the TomTom device.
Once you have the new larger card working correctly put the old one somewhere safe as you might need it at some future point - Mike

The size of card you have now depends on what maps you have, If you have UK and Ireland, I think it is a 256mb card, and yes, they are SD cards. If you want a bigger card, this is what TomTom recomend, with space for extra voices, poi's etc.
