|
|
Have Navigator 6 running on my N73 and everything seems to be working fine.
However, I have one minor gripe and that's the fact that I can't seem to switch between upper and lower case when naming favourites or POIs. The hash key (which usually switches case) simply produces an apostrophe, whilst the predictive text key (the one with the pencil icon) plus a number key produces different symbols. It appears I can only input text in lower case.
It's a small thing, but the fact that all my favourites are in lower case is bugging me.
Can anyone help ... ? |

I had the same problem.
The only way I found of getting around this was the following.
1. Move your favourites into a POI. (I already had this)
2. Locate the POI file on your phone and then copy it to a known Windows Directory.
3. Download POIedit (links are on this site).
4. Run POIedit.
5. Do a File|Open and locate the file you copied from your phone into the Windows directory.
6. You can now Edit the file. Change the lower to Upper Case as required.
7. Save the file!
8. Copy the file back from Windows to the phone and overwrite the file (make sure you have a copy of the old file first!!!!)
The advantages of the POI over a favourites list is that everytime you upgrade you do not loose the favourites and have to recreate them.
You only need to make these changes every so often, not everytime you add a POI. _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

Cheers for that. Sounds a bit long winded but I guess there's no alternative ...
EDIT: Have downloaded POIEdit, recreated my favourites in a new POI category, but can't find the relevant file/folder on my phone's memory card to transfer to the PC. Any more thought? |

There will be a map folder on the memory card simply put the ov2 file into the map folder, it could be named Great Britain or Western Europe or something similar depending on the map you have installed to the device. - Mike |

You could try locating the "Mapsettings.cfg" file in the map folder on your card, opening it using notepad and editing the case to capitals in there.
However, my advice is...DON'T!
I've just tried it and killed my .cfg file. No problem - I backed it up, right? Err, no (Doh!).
Ah well, no choice but to delete the file and start over...live and learn. |
