Anyone help please? My Nuvi 660 was fine last night after I loaded an updated firmware ?V3.8 and a few new POI's. Today it starts with the splashscreen and then "loading maps" and if no power, switches off and with power, sticks on loading maps. Halfords, where I bought it a month ago today have tried all the hards, soft resets but this has not improved things.
The guy is going to ring Garmin tomorrow but anyone any ideas? Surely I am allowed to load my own POI's and speed cameras from here on the machine?
It won't invalidate the warranty will it? I don't want a £400 doorstop!

Try rolling back the firmware and deleting the POIs, and is if it works. Then try again? |

Thanks but the problem is the laptop does not see the drive. It just says loading maps. So can't roll it back. Can't find out how to try a hard reset myself although the guy in Halfords did it twice but nothing changed. |

I had exacly the same problem on my first 660. Wouldnt re-set, wouldnt reconise the drive, all the same symtoms. Halfords just exchanged it with no hassle at all. _________________ Garmin 2569 |

I just told them it was faulty and locked up. He said no problem, I'll do a straight swap. I even bought it from Halfords on the net and took it back to local Halfords shop.
Good Luck.

Sorted. Took it back and even the best at Garmen Support failed to get it going. Swopped for a new one. While the guy in Halfords was trying to put it back in the box, it fell from his hands on to the floor! Gawd.... It it wasn't broke before, it certainly was then.
Good shop. :D |

Now I have a new unit, I don't want to screw this one up! Is it worth updating the software from V2.7 to V3.2? Can you load PO's/speed cameras from other places than Garmin on the machine? I loaded lots of POI's and the latest speed camera stuff from here just before it went broke. Should I untick Garmin stuff after loading my own into extras?
Sorry for all the questions, just don't want this one to go TU like what the other one did!!
