Can the European maps be used on separate PPC's?
Both my father and myself would like the European maps so splitting the purchase would make sense.
I guess the answer will be no though |

I suspect that you are correct and the strict answer is no. It really depends on how the authorisation works, but I assume tha it is the same as for the MAin Application.
Anyway using the same maps on 2 PDAs is breaking the license agreement anyway.
How about swapping PDAs when you need to travel abroad. No issues there. _________________ Mike Barrett |

My understanding is that the whole set uses activation.
I'll leave someone who actually has the set to comment on what the licence agreement allows, and whether it would be possible to activate the set on two different copies of TomTom Navigator 2 (I don't know whether activation for the maps uses the same rules as main program activation, or whether it activates against the product ID of TomTom Navigator 2).
My suspicion is that you'll be outside both the spirit and the letter of the licence agreement installing on two separate setups even if you can activate both.

Aero, You will definately will be in dodgy ground. One thing we religiously do when we request review software is to ask whether a single copy (including activation key when appropriate) because we need to provide a thorough review, and although we don't like to break license terms and agreements, we feel we're doing these companies a favour in pushing their products. We always get told categorically NO. So our next question is..."Can we have multiple licenses please" . I suppose if they let us break the license, anyone can (in a court of law).
These companies do keep strict licensing agreements, and although a lot of companies don't mind sharing music or software between the family, you would really need to clarify this with TOmTOm, but I think you know what the answer will be.
Most of the license agreements are worded in such a way of allowing you to install on one device at any one time, and like Mike says, how about switching PDA's when you go abroad ? |

Switching PDA's sounds like a good idea. Obvious really.
Thanks for your replies. |
