|
|
I am interested in purhcasing a BT338 and was check out prices on Ebay. One of the vendors mentions a version 2 of the product with this Ebay post eBay Link
This Version 2.0 model has all the problem fix comparing to Version 1.0 and is just released by GlobalSat recently. It has been improved its reception signal even working under cold environment or inside a house
I haven't seen mention of a new version in this group, so I thought I would query to see if it is in fact real. Anyone have any news on this?

there was a firmware upgrade recently (from 3.0.2 to 3.1.1) That's probably what that bloke calls "version 2". _________________ Lutz

I've posted the question to the ebay seller. Funny that they list v3.11 on their other for sale items, but list this one as version 2. I'll post again once I have more details.

All,
I received this reply from the ebay seller. "The version 2 of this BT-338 GPS unit indicates that they are the improved model with serial number 28000 and up (also with new firmware V3.1.1 supporting WAAS)."
I'm not sure if that clears anything up, but it's interesting.

Hi, I bought a Globalsat BT-338 off eBay last week for £69 incl p&p to the UK. It arrived this morning (from Hong Kong) and works great with my iPaq 3870. It was able to locate satellites from well within my living room - not even near a window. By the way, it is Version 3.1.1.
Go get one..... :D |

I've just come across the answer to what is officially a Version 2 receiver on the Globalsat US site.
Q) How do we distinguish which BT-338 version works in the cold?
A) V1 Didn't work well in cold temperatures, however v2 does work within the operating range (V1 BT-338 serial numbers: 1~400)
