<checks his drivers> Yep - I have the latest 1.00.07 drivers on the CD that are the same on SOC's website. Interestingly, if you look at the splash screen when you d/l and install the drivers - it mentions :
Known limitations :
-This driver only supports SD cards
-Hot swap of CD card is not fully supported. Eject the whole card!
But the CF with memory card is a CF card ? WTF ?
Regards,
Stuart. |

Maybe it's a typo? The translation of the instructions isn't the best to say the least! |

@Stuart,
Are you saying you need to do a SOFT reset or a HARD reset to get the memory on the Sysonchip work? And do you have to do this every single time?
Apart from this problem, how has its performance been on the road? |

If I power the x50v off (like at night) then the next day when I power the unit on, I have to SOFT reset the PDA for TomTom GPS to function and for the "Mounted Volume" to appear. I need to do more testing - sometimes I pull the CF card out, then reset and re-insert it as a reset on it's own sometimes isn't enough :-(
I also use Memory Map 2004 (or certainly will be when I goto Wales later in March!) and this app quickly shows the sats and nav data - although I think that the TomTom driver stomps on other apps by locking the GPS exclusively for TTN. This generates more CF card pulls and re-inserts occasionally to allow Memory Map to use the GPS.
Apart from this problem - the SysOnChip is great on the road - I haven't got my Seidio G2500 mount yet - but it's fine when my wife holds it in the passenger seat - she doesn't have to hold it up to the windscreen - just sits normally (well as normal as possible when I'm driving)
A colleague at work has the Aldi version of the Mio 168 and he loses sats when the SOC still holds them - although this is when we're wandering round the office behind tinted windows and horizontal blinds !
In the meantime, I'm keeping my eye on the SOC website for new drivers.... |
