i have just gone through hell getting all this into my pda can anyone tell me is it possible to use tomtom3 as a general driving around speed camera monitor ie just leaving it switched on and letting it follow my route and pick up speed cameras[/b] |

No, I think you'll only get it on the Navigator Safety Screen which then means you need to have a route plotted. |

If I remember correctly, CheckPOInt will work in any mode (i.e map or navigation), as long as you've configured it to warn you of the speed cams. |

Can't you open checkpoint acess Navigation in TomTom and simply turn guidance off. It seems to work for me. |

I use Tomtom/Checkpoint mostly to "follow" unplanned journeys. Go to map view, tools > clear route and then back to nav view. |

As the previous poster said, simply turning off guidance should do the trick. I have this on a hardware button, as I find it useful when pulling into Motorway service areas, but the function is easily accessible from the Navigator menu.
