With the Wedding in full swing I've set various places on their route, over the past couple of hours, to see how long the delays and the 'alternative' route.
Great, each time it shows a 2 minute delay due to busy roads but no incidents.
'The whole World will be watching'? Evidently not. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

That's because there are NO DELAYS - how many TomToms do you think are crawling along those routes? _________________ Dennis

Well said that man. So did I. So how many others did it too? Come on own up!

Yes I noticed that too.

TomToms, not many unless the horse drawn coaches and the regular coaches all had TomToms.
Any way, isn't the TomTom HD traffic partially based on the Vodafone network? Surely a good percentage of the crowd had Vodafone mobile phones switched on during the day, or would the TomTom HD system be able to determine that the Vodafone phones were on the pavement and not on the roads?

There weren't?

Obviously there were blocked roads and no TT users using those but what about the delays around the area? I'd wondered if TT would pick them up, after all 'everybody' knew. I would have thought the least they could have done is sent a signal via Vodaphone showing the blocked roads. And before you say why would I want to check when I already knew, what happens to people who don't know London and want to avoid the 'blocked' and congested roads and wouldn't have a clue as to the best via/vias to put into TT. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

What delays?
It's a Bank Holiday for gaulds sake.
Were you there to know any different?
Most people would have used public transport.

I stand corrected, hope I haven't given you the 'hump' after such a pleasant day for the Royalists. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

I think we already had the discussion about HD traffic taking consideration of pedestrians - the likes of football matches, concerts, changing of the guard etc. I don't recall the outcome, but somehow surely HD does indeed filter out that sort of thing?
IQ Routes already has "norms" for those roads, so a certain amount of delay is already built in. With no TT Live devices on those roads, no delay information is being transmitted to TT. Therefore there are NO DELAYS. Same as my local country road has a speed limit assumed of 60mph, even though it's full of cows, sheep, farmers driving their tractors to market and local peasants enjoying their Royal Wedding Street Parties.
What we can all take from this is that big events play havoc with Live HD Traffic data. Provides us with a neat talking point, no more, no less.
I had a lovely Royalist pleasant day. _________________ Dennis

But the OP plotted points ON the procession route, didn't he? Not close to it.
TT Traffic should definitely have picked up they those roads were closed. |

The whole world knew there was a wedding and roads would be closed.
You didn't need a TomTom to tell you that. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

That's crazy....
WHICH roads were closed?
Yes, I guess you could have looked it up on the web, but that's what that expensive TomTom Traffic subscription is there for! |
