It sounds like you are just copying the mp3s onto a disc.
If you were doing it correctly you would only have one file. A file called POI.GPI which you burn onto a disc in the folders i mentioned before.
From your first post you stated
Quote: | i have installed the speed camera database |
If you managed to add the speed cameras in the first place then you must have done it right in the past. All you have to do to have the voices is add the mp3 files to the speed camera files and then create the POI.GPI file with POILoader exactly as you did before. Then upload and do exactly the same as you did before with a disc to get it on the unit. There's nothing more to it. You are doing exactly the same process as before - the only difference is the number of files..... |

im on about 20 pounds worths of cd's now!
Is it just the poi.gpi file that has been created from the other files been put together that needs putting onto the cd? or my garmin folder i created with all the files including the created poi.gpi file?
I tryed both poi.gpi on its own and get disc error. and all together which plays track by track speech sounds.
When i downloaded the speed camera database file i extracted file into garmin folder i created on desktop i then put garmin folder into poi loader saved folder was garmin next option was C:\Users\rebecca\Desktop\Garmin this gave me the poi.gpi within the folde rwith other files burned to cd and this worked. but this doesnt seem to work now with the mp3 files.
kind regards, Gavin |

You need only the POI.GPI file but inside a couple of folders
x:\garmin\poi\poi.gpi
where x is your CD drive.
Once you have the POI.GPI file make a folder somewhere on the PC called
garmin
(all lower case). Inside that make a folder called
poi
(all lower case). Put the POI.GPI file inside the poi folder. Burn the 2 folders and POI.GPI file to CD making sure you have the structure above and finalise.
Others have mentioned that if you ignore the disk read error message it works eventually.
Also make sure you have the unit in [NAV] mode.
Does the unit have an SD Card slot because you can use that too? |

Only if your unit doesn't have an MP3 player.
Quote: | what now? i tryed burning straight to disk didnt work? |
What did happen? Messages etc You just need to do the same as you did before. |
the mp3 player on the dnx5220 and other kenwoods is seperate from the navigational software.
to get voice alerts on my kenwood i used wav files named them the same as the cam files so for gatso 30 you should have
GATSO_30.CSV
GATSO_30.BMP
GATSO_30.wav |

Use Audacity to convert the files...
I was sure others used the mp3 files on a DNX5220 but i've read in another thread that no Kenwood unit supports voice alerts...
cjay2412 is using the 7260BT....
So now some do and some don't... I have the horrible feeling the 5220BT doesn't as i can't find anyone else who confirms it works with the 5220BT... |

i'm using the dnx 5240bt i do know someone using the new dnx 7260bt and got to admit its an impressive bit of kit but myself couldnt justify the extra several hundred pounds. as the 5240 and the 5220 both run the same software i don't see why it shouldn't work mine is running v 2.70 which you can upgrade to on the garmin website if you haven't already. |

Hi,
Can i ask how you converted your files ive tryed following the given instructions but i not really sure what im doing. this is all new to me, Ive have updated to v 2.7 last night. Is it possible you could email me a file which is already converted ready so i could just burn the file to cd?
Kind Regards, Gavin
