I'm running TTN6 on my HTC Tytn II. I had to reboot the phone just now and to my horror I now only have the Western Europe map selectable. I was using the Western US map just earlier this morning.
Can anyone suggest what I can do to rectify his problem?
Trust it to happen just as I happen to be here in the US!

Unless you have a backup of the map to hand then there isn't a lot you can do I'm sorry to say? _________________ Darren Griffin |

The folder is there but it's empty.
Why would this happen? My maps are stored on the MicroSD flash card.
I'm going to try a data retrieval utility - wish me luck!

OK, on the PC I can see corrupted file entries.
I'm hoping that the files are actually intact and it's just the index that is damaged.
I'm backing up the rest of the card as I speak!

Very annoying when this happens, had it happen to me once or twice when I used to use a PPc and I resorted to keeping a full backup on the memory-card that I could restore from if/when problems arose.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing I know though. Is the map on a memory card? _________________ Darren Griffin |

If I can recover the files, they won't have names - can I base the names on my Western European maps folder? If anyone has the TTN6 Western US map, could you let me know the file names and sizes? Much appreciated.

Hi Darren, yes, it's on a card. I'm backing up the other data now.
I may be able to recover the file data but I won't have the file names. Can you help me with that?
This not a covert attempt at piracy - I run the DPNow.com photpgraphy website and I'm in Anaheim, California, covering a trade show until Tuesday. My home base is in Hemel Hempstead.

Sadly I don't have a US map with which to compare but hopefully someone else here will.

And none suspected!
Let us know when you have files recovered and we can see where we go from there. _________________ Darren Griffin |

My wife as managed to find the CF card I was using when I had a Dell Axim Pocket PC device, and the folder is still on the card
I just hope that it's the same version, but I don't think I have changed TTN versions since then.
She's going to upload folder contents to our server so I can download it...

Looks like my bacon has been saved. I downloaded the zip file my other half uploaded to our server and - it works! I wasn't confident at first because it was only a couple of hundred megabytes (Western Europe is around 900MB), but all seems well. It's funny seeing Favourites from a trip to the US four years back
I think the reason why the corruption happened originally was that TTN6 was still running when I reset my phone. I won't be doing that in a hurry again.
Thanks for your support and encouragement. Now I can find where I'm getting my meal this evening!

One of those occasions where we couldn't offer more than moral support but glad your issue is resolved.
Now go get a backup utility for PPc ;) _________________ Darren Griffin |
