After initialy denying there was a problem with their activation server, I have just received the following from TomTom...

This email came from a particular guy @ TomTom that I have also spoken to on the phone. He is the only one I have ever had any sensible responses and positive actions from. If your listening Neil, many thanks.
It's just a shame that their support is a lottery.

Having up-graded from a XDA to XDA II on thursday, I installed TT v3 as a new installation from the upgrade CD without any problems. Allowed TT3 to activate itself via the net.
According to Tomtom support their product can be transfered to another/new device.
Your product code can be used to activate TomTom Navigator on a second device. This is, however, ONLY possible 7 days after the first activation.
Once you have activated the software on the second device you will need to wait 6 months until the product code can be used again, on a third device.
From then onwards your product code can be used on a new device every 6 months _________________ Graham.
