Hi I've just bought a factory recon GO 930 and am keen to try the ipod facility ... is it a special lead or will any ipod to car radio jack lead do the job? Thanks Steve. |

It is a specific lead made by TomTom - try Halfords as they were selling these off for around 3 quid a while back, on the box it says its for x10 but don't worry about that the same lead works with all go x10, x20, x30 and even x40 units with an accessory mount - Mike |

There's actually two cables needed.
1. A standard 3.5mm stereo jack-to-jack for the audio from the TomTom to the car radio, and
2. A control cable from the iPod's multiway connector to a special 2.5mm jack plug (with several more rings on it compared to a normal stereo jack plug) on the TomTom. |

Does this mean that music from an ipod/mp3 player can't be streamed through the FM connection ? |

No, sorry to confuse...
The iPod audio is treated much the same as the internal jukebox player.
The music goes into the TomTom via the control cable.
you then have the same choices in the "Speaker preferences" menu to send the music to the internal speaker , the line out socket, or to the FM tuner or Bluetooth if available.
The jack-jack cable needs be used on models where only the line out is available or you have no Bluetooth audio capability on your car stereo.
as the manual says (page 71 of the on-line version):
Quote: | Using your iPod® with your TomTom GO
You can also control your iPod using your GO. An Active Dock that enables you to connect you iPod to your GO is available is a an accessory.
Sound from your iPod is played through the internal speaker in your GO, or an external speaker if selected. |
