Help!
I have spent days trying to get tomtom 3.01 to work!
I have a new HP 4150, 256Mb SD, Tomtom 3.01 wired GPS.
I have tried several times to install tt3. However I am unable to pick up any satellites with tomtom GPS driver.
I can confirm though that the hardware is working as I have checked this with Winfast Navigator and am able to pick up 7 sats.
I have re-installed, tried upgrading to 3.03, tried moving down to GPS driver 2.07, hard reset - reinstalled, checked correct hardware settings in the tomtom gps driver - but just can not get it working - I have spent hours trying to.
Please help soon - I am now becoming very frustrated!
I have tried to contact TomTom - logged into their website and created a user, but can not find a link to post/email questions - looks like you guys are my only hope!! |

OK, some more information would help here. In the TomTom GPS Applet, what settings have you configured for the GPS and do you see any indication of satellite reception on the status screen? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have occasionally seen some indication of sattelite reception after some 4 hours of having the system set up.
I have "Tomtom Navigator GPS" and "Serial Cable on Com1" showing - the zzzzzzzzzz is switched to show the tomtom symbol (switch below Kmh option on th GPS screen).
However, I am able to get a virtually instant fix with winfast navigator.
What do you reckon - am I doing something wrong?? |

You're doing this outside with 12v power to the GPS and a clear view of the sky? Have you soft reset to ensure Winfat Navigator is not still running as a background process and thereby occupying the Com Port? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Outside - using car charger - 12V and ensuring that com1 is clear - soft reset - still the same problem!
Right brain teeser this one! _________________ Adam

Are you trying it in the car, with both Winfast and TomTom? Some cars have heat-reflective windscreens that block GPS signals. |

I have tried it in the car with both systems - both work. However, I thought perhaps I would give TomTom GPS a little help and have tried this with the reciever placed outsid the car - still no success.
I think it is probably a software issue - but don't know what!! _________________ Adam

Just got off the phone to Tomtom (after much hunting for their contact details and a long time on hold waiting for a service technician)- they will not offer support as I have a seidio cradle and not a tomtom!!
Any suggestions?? _________________ Adam

Have boxed up my seidio mount and spoken with the supplier who has agreed to sawp it for a tomtom mount - good old suppliers - thanks.
Have also spoken to my supplier for the tomtom 3 GPS Kit and they have agreed to swap the reciever - once again good old suppliers.
Bring it on tomtom - no more we can not support you because you do not have our product. _________________ Adam
