Hi
Nuvi 265t new out of the box keeps restarting, shows Garmin logo and shows nuvi 2009 and thats it. A reset doesnt make any difference. Neither does it make any difference if plugged into a computer or the car charger. When plugged into the computer the unit cannot be seen in explorer (and keeps restarting). Apart from returning the item any other ideas please?
thanks

Have you got an SD Card in the side? if so, can you remove it?
What happened last time the unit worked?
Try a reset.
1.- Power off the GPS
2.- Press and hold the right bottom corner
3.- Power on
4.- System asks if you are sure to delete all custom data and setting.
5.- If you answer "yes" next screen looks like brand new device |

From brand new I started the device and it went through the configuration settings but the battery failed before finishing. Since then it keeps restarting. I have tried the hard resert you suggest, and there isnt any cards in the side. |

What you describe is caused most often by a failed application update. By chance did you connect to WebUpdater for the latest application? If so, and you disconnect and turn off your nuvi before it's had a chance to fully load the application, you may get the booting loop you have. While there are a couple of steps you could take to attempt to reload the apllication yourself, it's not worth the effort on a new device and might not be successful anyway. The easiest solution would probably be to call GArmin, who can remotely access your 265 once you connect it to your computer, and can then re-load the software for you. If unsuccessful, simply return it for another. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |
