When I try to move files into this card using an external CF card connection with my desktop computer, I very soon get an error mentioning 'cyclic redundancy check' and the transfer halts.
Yet when I transfer the very same files through the Activesync pocket-pc window (much slower) the files transfer ok. Given there is apparently no on-the-fly Activesync data-conversion going on with the files, I'm a bit confused as to what is going on.
The card is marked as CFN01G 0455510
Any ideas as to what's going on? Thanx in advance |

I had something similar happen with a 256M XD card in my reader - it turned out that reader was incapable of accessing the 256M card.... and gnashed up the contents in the process... luckily I was trying the card out in the reader before taking 256M of photos or I'd have been as popular as something really quite unpopular.....
All solved via a firmware update on the reader though :D |

Lynz - it sounds like somehow your card reader and your card disagree somehow.
Can you try either another card or another card reader to see if you can figure out which combinations work and which don't?

thanks!
Seem to have same problem with new dane-elec xs sd card. these are both good quality cards so perhaps the reader is indeed suspect. it is a Megadata '6-in-1' usb reader. Anyone suggest a proven alternative? |

I'm using a Belkin F5U248 USB 2.0 card reader, which seems happy enough with the various SD, MMC and SmartMedia cards I own.

Could not get a Belkin locally but tried a new USB 2.0 Dazzle model. Apart from being very much faster in data transfers, I get no errors at all know.
Great advice guys, nailed my problem!
Cheers, Lynz :D |
