First of all try resetting the device with a pin, and have you got the unit in the car dock as I seem to remember the screen dim / day - night mode only worked in the car dock - Mike |

Try searching for the problem on the forum. I believe you need to delete the settings.dat file from the 910's root directory. The file will be recreated when you fire the unit back up, hopefully cured. |

I have the same problem with my 710. After any computer linked updates, the auto day/night change doesn't happen. If it is daylight but my TT was last used in night mode, I manually select day mode and am asked 'do you want to automatically switch to night colours when dark ?' If I say yes, then it goes straight back to night colours, even though it is daylight. A reset usually fixes it but its a pisn in the harris. Surely there is a fault somewhere. Any ideas ? I don't really want to delete files unless assured it will work. _________________ Tommo...

You're experienced enough to know that so long as your backups are complete and up to date, there's no danger in deleting the file as suggested and seeing if it cures your problem. |

I know I can Andy, you're right. I just like the easy option and there are many forum members like yourself who know exactly what they are doing, so people like me who have the ability but not necessarily the knowledge, can benefit. I don't really want this to sound like I'm a lazy sod, but I prefer to do what is known to be correct, rather than experimenting, which can be time consuming and problematic. _________________ Tommo...

Deleting settings.dat fixed the same problem on my GO510 some time ago and the problem never returned.
You do loose some setting though so you have to re enter your home address and re set up mobile phone connections (there may have been other things as well, can't remember now). _________________ Paul |
