I believe the IQ Routing is just weekdays/weekends in the UK at present. |
Now I'm confused....
What other days are there? I know this damned government would love to have an 8 or 9 day week but what else is there other than weekdays or weekends?

What? How soon they forget.
The Beatles...."Eight Days a Week" |
Or if Tomtom have there way " A magical mystery tour" |

It's now well over a week since Darren advised us to wait a week for an announcement from TT. Has anyone heard anything yet? _________________ TT Go Essential |

I have the latest Tomtom 730T and I am still not to impressed asin my job as a Taxi Dtiver at Gatwick I get to travel lots and I have noticed quite a few problems with the maps. One major problem is that there is no Road system leading to Ebsfleet Train Station near Bluewater, yet this has been planned for over two years. Also on the A3 going towards Portsmouth the road past Hindhead which is being made ino a dual carriage way is also missing. Many areas that have sprung up over a year ago are still not on this version so I feel hard done by to the extent that I paid for a Tomtom that seems to be already out of date. (Paid £280) |

The A3 bit shouldn't appear on any map for at least another 2 years as it's going to be in a tunnel and the tunnel is only just starting to be bored.
More info here: http://www.highways.gov.uk/roads/projects/3832.aspx
The Ebbsfleet International Station, has only just opened in mapping terms (November 2007), however as it's been planned for significantly longer (2 years) then it really should be there.
There is one question remaining....
Why would you want to go to Ebbsfleet International?
It's completely out of the way, near nothing of any significance & they screw you for £12-13 per day for parking! |

As he's a taxi driver he no doubt wants to go there because his passengers ask him to.

Maybe that's why they take a cab? _________________ Anita

Ebbsfleet International from Gatwick?
I'd say if anything it should be the other way round considering recent events! |

Forgive me if I am going prematurely senile but....
Last week I had a look at the TomTom website at the new ver 8.10 maps. On my 730 it clearly says I have a United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland map along with the Western and Central Europe map originally installed.
I may have been imagining it but I am certain I could see a UK & ROI map ver 8.10 on the TomTom website up to yesterday. Today however it no longer exists?? There is however a Great Britain and Republic of Ireland map which I'm assuming is pretty much the same thing? Lets be generous to TomTom and assume that as they are Dutch they don't understand that Great Britain and The United Kingdom are not the same thing....
Anyway could this also explain another oddity. On Saturday I went into MapShare preferences in Home on my PC. In the section where you choose which countries to download corrections for there were sections for UK & ROI and the Europe maps. Now the UK & ROI entry has vanished!
I suspect the latter may be related to the former? |

Being Dutch, you would expect them to be more careful - think Holland / Netherlands. Maybe they are working on the principal that the "GB" Olympic team are actually using the correct name.
No idea what the map was named yesterday, by the way, but the "details" section does say it includes Northern Ireland. _________________ Gerry

surely though it should be UK & ROI maps?
seeing as UK = "united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland"?
GB = england, scotland & wales and so GB & ROI maps would not include northern ireland - or have they inadvertently admitted a lack of maps for northern ireland ?!

Thinking about it somemore I reckon I've been here before.
I have a sneaky feeling this isn't the first time TomTom have swapped between GB and UK. Pretty sure the last time was from GB to UK and now we've gone back to UK.
I shall have to dig out the old back-up SD cards I made for my old 510. Got a strong suspicion I shall find signs of both GB & ROI and UK & ROI maps lurking there.
Next question is does the removal of the UK version mean MapShare will go t**s up? Given that the map has dissapeared from MapShare Preferences in Home.
Ever get the feeling it is just a sneaky plot by TomTom to part us from 40 of our hard earned quids??? |

According to the TomTom store, the current map available for my 520 is:
Map of Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland v8.10
and the one I have at this time is:
CurrentMap=United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland
CurrentMapVersion=715.1703
So, if I buy the new map, willit overwrite the existing or will it create a new folder and will I have to copy all my .OV2 & .bmp file across as well?
What happens with the MapSettings.cfg file? _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |
