Am I missing something?
Everytime I enter a route & route is calculated, I cannot activate the Route Guidance command from the Navigation page of the tools menu (It's greyed out)
Equipment is Hp h2210 with CF receiver running version 4.42
Any suggestions or advice?
Apart from the above, I'm finding mapopolis much "sharper" than TT and at the moment it seems to have more up to date mapping (for the UK that is) |

can you confirm that pspeak.mlp is installed? (You can test this by wiggling the slider under Tools...Settings...Sound Settings. _________________ Lutz

Yes - Installed - reinstalled - & reinstalled again
I did get it to work over the weekend but only by picking start point & destination from the map display.
When I went back to favourites it disapeared again.
I suspect it may be something to do with the map regions I have installed at the moment (only the West Midlands as a bought item and worcestershire as a Demo map) |

I can't see what this should have to do with map regions. You don't need to specify the start point any more - it will assume your GPS position as start if you leave it blank.
Can you please describe the steps you take and the point where it breaks - I'll then try to recreate the problem on my machine. _________________ Lutz

If I try to create a route from (say) my home location to somwhere on the map area within the West Midlands (this is the map area I paid for & downloaded over the internet) the route guidance command remains greyed out.
If I create a route between two points within a downloaded Demo area everything seems OK.
I have since tried this within another Demo map & it seems OK, but if I try a route from this area ( where I work) to the West Midlands Area (where I live) - no route guidance! Hence my suspicions about my map area. (filename - GBR_WESTMIDLANDSPGC05.mlp)
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for your help |

Seems to me you loaded the wrong map. You need to get the NGC map (Navigator), not the PGC map (Premium) _________________ Lutz

I've now tried both versions that are available for download without success. However I have re-installed the Demo file for the area and that seems to work! |

Have you really downloaded the NGC maps now? Please check again. _________________ Lutz

Having read posts here on Mapopolis I thought I would try the program out.
I have downloaded a Navigator demo map of Tenerife to see if the Navteq coverage is better than the Teleatlas. However, having loaded the map into memory all I can see is a 'blue' island in a sea of yellow??
The city names are there but no roads at all out side of Santa Cruz.
It would appear that Navman's SmartSTv2 has better coverage of Tenerife unless of course the demo maps contain less information than the purchased version?
Now that I have loaded a demo map to the PPC does this preclude me from obtaining other demo maps? _________________ Ian.

- Make sure you select the best detail level (the + symbol in the menu bar)
- You can continue to download demo maps, but only three per session, and they expire after 10 days. _________________ Lutz

Hi Icsys,

This does seem to be a "feature" of Mapopolis maps as I found the same thing with the demo of the Channel Island maps when I was looking for Jersey and Guernsey.
What’s the coverage of Jersey and Guernsey like on Navman’s SmartSTv2? Would I be right in thinking that SmartSTv2 (Tele Atlas) hasn’t got Jersey and Guernsey, while SmartSTv1 (Navteq) did cover the Channel Islands?

Yep No Jersey or Guernsey on the SmartSTv2 maps.
Mind you, it would be difficult to get lost there! (But that's beside the point) _________________ Ian.

Just look on the mapoplis home page:
Original text on the page to download a selected map:???!!!
---------------------------------------------------
Platinum+GPS maps support GPS devices. Door-to-door driving directions are generated and current position is automatically plotted on the map but no automatic visual or spoken prompts are generated.
Platinum maps do not support GPS devices. Door-to-door driving directions are generated but no automatic visual or spoken prompts are generated.
Demo maps are time-limited Navigator maps. When used with a GPS device, Navigator maps generate door-to-door driving directions and automatically generate spoken and visual prompts before each turn and automatically re-route when a turn is missed. When used without a GPS device, Navigator maps generate door-to-door driving directions but no automatic visual or spoken prompts.
-------------------------------------------------
So, You will not get voice activation for more that 9 day´s. Also if You would like to pay for!!!!

That's not correct. Demo maps will completely stop functioning after nine days.
If you don't get voice guidance then you have downloaded the wrong type of maps (Platinum instead of Navigator) _________________ Lutz

OK, I'm confused.
I wanted Oxfordshire maps with voice nav, but they don't have a navigator version?? So, I spent £7 on a map thats no good??
Am I missing something or is a navigator version not available?
The demo map worked fine! |
