Ok, my experiance with these two units, one is the 'ONE Explore' which was supplied by my work, and the other is a GO930T, wich belongs to me.
Both have Tmc Travel, of which here in Devon and Cornwall, I get very good signal, ie I had a permenent green circle between Plymouth and Penzance, but the detail is not as good as my Mio C710 that has been replaced.
Having said the above about Tmc I have to admit I prefer the Tom Tom's.
The One updated fine, and got the guaranteed new map without problems. It has also updated without problems since.
I then purchased the 930T for myself (and for a trip to America).I logged onto home, changed the unit details (without checking here ) and found my first problem, I now have to make a new account for the One unit, because I cannot have two units on one account!!
Still now to update my 930 with the latest map guarantee. Umm, no! As many others have found it doesn't like you updating both maps, mine would download USA, and then try to obtain the Europe maps and came back with a forbidden message. I tried a number of times, without success, so contacted TomTom support. Also of course when you start again it starts back at the begining, downloading USA, not good when the files are this big even with broadband. I have not sent details back yet, but have overcome the problem, Whether this will work for others I don't know, but I don't think I have read it anywhere here.
I tried one last time and it did the same finished down loading USA, tried to get Europe and failed, giving me the message forbidden as I said. Next I thought I would check what was on my computer, and there was the USA maps, so I took a chance and installed them onto my 930, (yes I have done a full backup thanks to everyone here telling us to do it continuously!). I then tried the latest map again and it only showed Europe, and this time it downloaded fine, so I now have both updated maps on my 9301 Very pleased.
And very pleased with both units
Sorry if this is a long first message, will attempt to keep shorter in future.

Neat, for once the map upgrade with a 930 seems to have worked - and well done for your perseverance with this one, to the forum, my next advise is to burn the backup data you have on the PC to a DD just in case the PC encounters a problem - Mike
For your information I also got the forbidden message. Tried few times one after another without any waiting and eventually it just went through at X-th time. Probably some stupid bug on TomTom's side.

If either of you (or both) could tell me the size of the newly updated 8.05 WE&C map please? _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr.

Same as mine. I wanted to confirm as it seems some owners have received an update closer to 1.6g (perhaps a slightly earlier update?), and another today reported 1.8. Very odd. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr.
Actually it's not odd. While the downloaded files is indeed 1,92GB the amount of data copied by HOME varies between devices, ie. HOME does not copy all speech files, instead it only copies the one for your current language versions (or something similar, the way of solving this by home is to be determined.
So my map on GO is something within 1,6-1,7 GB as HOME copied the map without any speech recognition files (I use Polish language and they dont support speech in this language).
The reason for this behaviour is because WCE and US map with all speech files would not fit the 4GB limit, hence the differences between the devices
sold in different countries. The model sold here is bit difference (voices and speech files) than the model sold
If I remember correct you can determine the language version of stock if GO930 from the map subversion numbe, ie. Germany - WCE v800.1764, Spain - v800.1766, Italy - v800.1762 etc.
And btw after installation of both 8.05 maps without any speech I have about 0,6GB of free spaceon my GO930.

The other poster I referred to earlier was in the US, as am I, yet two different map file sizes were downloaded. Mine was the same size as yours, while the poster I refer to was 1.85 if I recall correctly. Mine was done 8 days ago, while his was yesterday. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr.

Agreed. Just posting to note there are apparently some differences in the offered updates. At some point there may be someone good enough to post files list on the smaller update. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr.
