You could have a look at the chart on This Page which shows version 715 is the latest map for your device, the v705 you have got installed is only a few months old though, so unless you have some major problems with the map I would save your money for now and await a later update when you find the map is sufficiently out of date to warrant changing it - Mike |

if 715 is available then i can get it for free as tomtom give you 30 days after purchasing to see if a newer map is available for my/your device.
thing is im wary of downlaoding agin as last time i did it caused me no end of problems.
ill probably just leave it as there is nothing wrong with it as it stands. ill think about updating the map buti dont want all the hassle that it gave me last time.
cheers |

Then you have a free map upgrade so you might as well use it as its going to cost you nothing, if you have any "fun" with it downloading/ obtaining the map etc contact TomTom support on 0845 161 0009 - Mike |

ok, it seems if you use the latest map gaurantee, you loose the speed cameras, not impressed so im going back to how the unit was at standard and leaving the map update.
id rather have map correction and the speed camera part of the device working correctly than have a slightly newer map. |

I would explore the possibility of using the new map combined with the speed camera database from this site, OK so the Speed Cameras are not free, but you can have custom spoken alerts that will announce:
"Warning, Gatso ahead, speed limit is XX miles per hour" in a number of different voices, the database also includes mobile cameras which will be something new to you (and these are more likely to catch you out).
Finally the accuracy of the PGPSW Speed Camera Database is second to none, I have used the TomTom offering but I would not trust it at all. I have been using it recently for the last two weeks and I have to say it has improved, but it has a long way to go to catch up with the offering from this site. Too many locations are either incorrectly reported or worse they are not reported at all - Make you choice, but if you rely upon the out of date TomTom database for protection from cameras I would drive very carefully (not that you should ever speed or use a camera database to drive above the legal speed limit)
By the sounds of it you have the 715 map so you could install that later if you decide the above is for you, keep a back up on the PC of the new map now that you have got it - Mike |

Due to measures that were taken to prevent Piracy of the database from this site the monthly £2 subscription was withdrawn some time ago, the only option now is the year subscription at £19.
Bear in mind though once your subscription is active if you are first to report a new camera location (subject to verification by the site) you will qualify for a free lifetime membership - What I will say is that you won't be disappointed with the help and assistance in customising the warnings, let alone the simple fact the data is second to none - Mike |

We took the decision to drop the £2/month subscription option due to a few abusing it and widely sharing our data. Although we can track and identify the source of pirated data a significant minority saw £2 as small enough to write off if caught. The annual fee makes such actions rather less palatable to the thieves.
However the £19/year option still offers excellent value and gives you access to our monthly subscriber competitions. We also still offer the lifetime subscriber award for qualifying reports of new or amended cameras.
If you are lucky enough to be the first to report a camera that meets our qualification criteria (the full criteria is laid our here) then you would be upgraded to a lifetime member. Some twenty or so members meet this criteria every month. _________________ Darren Griffin |

We normally suggest either using the distances laid out in this chart:
or using speed x 10 for fixed cameras and speed x 20 for mobiles i.e.
Fixed Camera @ 30mph = 30mph x 10 = 300yds
Mobile Camera @ 50mph = 50mph x 20 = 1000yds _________________ Darren Griffin |
