Take the WCE map as example. Anybody notice any improvement?
Is this essentially the same map that was used in the Beta test? |

Is the A23 Coulsdon bypass on it? It wasn't on the 710 map. What about the island of Jersey? That wasn't on the 710 map either. _________________ Tim |

I don't know about upgrades, but I know what's been downgraded. Thers's a large complex of roads in the freight area of Heathrow that now seem to be reclassified as private roads with no navigation guidance on them. They were fine under 6.5. AFAIK all roads in Heathrow are technically private and not dedicated for general public use, but they are used by hundreds of vehicles a day, many of them continental trucks and couriers from all over the UK. Does anyone know of any other instances of this, e.g. large trading estates? _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

It seems that quite a lot of "destinations" are being marked as private especially privately owned areas. This includes industrial estates as well as motorway service areas. If you actually want to get there, it will navigate you there fine - it just won't try getting you to go "through" to area to get to somewhere else. In a way, it's an improvement.
Have they mapped the Isle of Man yet? _________________ Gerry

I have to strongly disagree. The area I'm talking about at Heathrow the instructions stop as you enter it (as they do on the private estate where I live) if you don't know the area finding a particular could be a nightmare, and dangerous bearing in mind the volune of traffic that uses it at certain times of the day and night. _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

That depends on the country you are in. I have TeleAtlas Multinet 2007.10 datasheet with detailed coverage details on all WCE countries and comparision to 2007.7 and while some countries improved a lot
(for example Slovakia went from 30% road network coverage to 100%),
some other are just few percent updates of home address coverage or
few hundred of kilometres roads added.
Please let me know what countries you are interested in and I will write down the numbers. |

I suppose if Map Share actually worked we would not have to pay out all this cash for yet more maps that are likely to be wrong....

I now have the v710.1561 W+CE "Large/920" version (1946.7MB) AND the v715.1710 W+CE "2GB" version (1636.9MB) both running on my 720, so can do instant comparisons of those two at least...
The first thing I noticed was a lot more "3D" buildings (which personally I don't like):
v710:
v715:
Here are some random places showing not much difference.
Note that there is no reduction in water features or 'curvyness' of roads in these...
v710:
v715:
v710:
v715:
v710:
v715:
But I note that the small street incorrectly named as Brewhouse Road, which I reported to TeleAtlas on v6 maps, and corrected via Map Share on BOTH v705 maps and v710 maps, will need doing YET AGAIN on v715!! Presumably I'll be doing all my Mapshare corrections for the third time!
v710:
v715:
Then I read emjaiuk's post above about the service roads at Heathrow becoming "no access", so looked there.
I didn't see huge differences with the access type, they seem mostly dotted on BOTH versions. BUT there are some missing entirely on my v715:
v710:
v715:
I'm assuming the roads haven't disappeared, so is this more random "squashing" on the smaller "2GB" version of the map? |

I must be mad as I ordered and downloaded the 715 UK map last night for £40.00
I can see no changes in my area. No missing roundabouts added, still tries to take you down a private unpaved road and gets confused with a junction on the A26 between Newhaven & Beddingham.
Also Home 2.2 when I tried the latest map option offered me 710!
2.2 also caused errors selecting the free POI's for doctors, dentist etc.
It seems to know about them so either now built in or it did copy them.
2.2 also would not over-write old map but unlike earlier versions did update the free space on device (while still docked with TT Home) when I manually deleted old map folder (already did a full backup of course).
Andy_P2002 may I ask which program you use to capture TT screens?
Many Thanks

The A23 next to Smitham Station is indeed different on 715.1703 compared with that on my 910 running maps v675.1409
I cannot really confirm however if the changes are 100% correct

Actually that's not how I do it now..
That screen capture is good for when you're out and about (apart from it getting in the way of controls if you've got the screen set-up for left handed).
But when at home, what I do is easy....
Use the "operate my device" on-screen emulator in Home and "browse map" as usual.
When you've got it how you want, simply use the "print screen" button"on the PC keyboard (usually top right).
Not many people realise that copies an image of the whole PC screen into the standard Windows clipboard, so you can open any "paint" package you like (or even a Word Processor) and just hit "paste".
The paint package I use even has a "new from clipboard" function, so I just open it like that, crop the image to show just the TT screen and save as a .jpg picture.
It even comes out just the right size for the forums without any mucking about. Doing all those only took 10-15 mins. |

User of XP tablet edition and any of the Vista versions with tablet functionality have the snipping tool which allows you to grab part of the screen, so it even easier to make screen grabs. |
