Do any of the SatNav systems allow the power cable to be connected to the mount/cradle so that you can simply remove and insert just the unit ?
My old TT1 needed slotting into the mount then you attached the fiddly cable (or vice versa). _________________ DashCam:

The x10 range from TomTom did this, but there were problems with the mount disconnecting from the unit when you hit bumps in the road - some users were affected more than others.
For the x20 and One XL have a look at the third party mounts by Brodit or Carcomm, there is a write up Here for the latter - Mike |

The only problem with mounts like this, is how tempting it is to leave them installed.
Unless you live on a remote island with no crime, that's unfortunately not an option for most people these days |

Thanks
Fortunately my daily parking locations are fairly secure as I park in the garage at home and in a private protected underground car park at work.
On the rare occasions I do go elsewhere I currently just position my large microfibre cloth over my Talex which just looks like the cloth is 'on the dash' as I have concealed the Talex power lead.
Ideally what I'm looking for is the powered cradle which I could easily remove if required but mostly just leave it in situ and remove the SatNav unit easily without messing with cables.
The one thing I forgot to mention in this post was that I want to continue using the camera database from here. _________________ DashCam:

In that case, the Brodit mounts that Mike mentioned, should fit the bill.
http://www.dsldevelopments.com/ are a good UK distributor.
If you want a solution that is also removable sometimes, you need the Brodit "move clip" too, but I notice they are quite hard to find on the DSL site. Get to where you have pictures of the TT mount and scroll down through the "customers also viewed" bit to find pictures and part numbers of the 2 sizes. |

Thanks
I've just noticed that Brodit do the range of "Active Mounts" for almost the complete TT range so I can see me getting one of those and a TTXL to replace my TalexLite
I did briefly look at the Snooper Sapphire but I consider £5 a month a tad steep. The only other option is 'lifetime' for £99 which makes the initial purchase £250(ish). Also some websites are stating that the Snooper 'lifetime' only = the guarantee period which is 5 years ? _________________ DashCam:

I've got both my ProClips installed with 'Move' mounts and any cradle's I install have corresponding 'Move' mounts so I can remove them as necessary. Takes seconds. _________________ Darren Griffin |
