Oh. Sad

That's a shame. Perhaps they might expand the map altering abilities in a future upgrade.

Another map bug I'm hoping to be able to fix (but haven't been able to try yet) is when I'm driving down a motorway and I'm told to 'keep right' for no good reason. More often than not, I'm just passing a normal junction.

Is this type of correction possible with MapShare?

There is a fairly good explanation of Mapshare here:

Hi all

the reason I purchased my 520go was because of the mapshare feature with such phrases as future proof and instantly update your maps

The 3 lines below came straight off the tomtom web site today and they have been there a long time

1: You tap your map change into your TomTom via the user-friendly menu.
2: That’s it – your map is updated! Connect to TomTom HOME to receive and
3: share map updates with the entire Map Share community

Now i find you can only update (instantly) items on the first page of the menu the rest have to be updated by tomtom in a new version map (££££££)

i would not be concerned if tomtom had not used creative advertiseing which in my lanquage means untruthful but they have definitely courted the inference that the maps are instantly updated by each user and that is certainly not the case I hope this is not the way forward for other sat nav companies

I am truly dissapounted by tomtom. Don't get me wrong its brilliant as it goes, but it doesn't do what it says on the can.

One of the bugs I am still trying to resolve with TT since the map update is in the ‘Find alternative’ menu. If I ‘Navigate to’ a destination some distance away, and I click ‘Avoid roadblock’ and choose any of the distances, it will recalculate the route, then inform me that there was, ‘No route found’. Even though I know there are several alternative way of reaching that destination. The rest of the 'Alternative menu seem to work as well as they ever did, just the road block which is annoying me.
Just on the very odd occasion when I have tried this from home, it will tell me that there is ‘No GPS on route’. This is when I have found that GPS technology has placed my house on the other side of a main road maybe a hundred yds away, but that problem seems to sort itself out after several minutes when the sats have unscrambled themselves.

I still haven't received any map corrections. It says these updates will be downloaded when I connect to the 'Home' software but it doesn't seem to happen. I assume there'll be a message saying something like 'Downloading MapShare updates' or something but I've seen nothing like that.

What should I see? Can someone let me know?

Thanks.

Andy, what version of Home are you using?
In Home v2.1, with a 720, as soon as you connect the TT and run Home, it first asks whether you want to use the Flash memory or the SD card, then it goes to an "getting updates automatically" page.
Major updates (maps, quickfix etc.) are at the top, Mapshare updates are in smaller text at the bottom

There should be three lines:
Share your map corrections
Map Share - map updates
Map Share - POI updates
If there are items to download, an "estimated size" and a tick box appears beside each one to select if you want to install it.
I am getting "tiny" updates almost every time I connect (several times a day at the moment!)

Ah, that might be it.

I have Home V1.5 (Build 106). I was aware there was a V2 but a few messages I'd read suggested 1.5 was better. Sounds like I need to upgrade to V2.

...and I guess V1.5 just doesn't 'do' MapShare at all. I'll give V2.1 a go - thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've had HOME V2.1.2.1 .... since it was available. I can Upload my corrections, and I can Download QuickFix, and another Map, if I want it. Rolling Eyes

But I don't have the option to download any Map corrections. HOME just states "no updates". Crying or Very sad Evil or Very Mad
