External NMEA via RS232 on Mio devices

Is this possible? I want to use a Mio C520 or C517 on the ground for car nav, but I want to use it in the air running 3d party nav software with an external NMEA feed via RS232. But I need to supply the 5V power and RS232 somehow. Can this be done?

Perhaps with some other Win CE PDA devices? (Note: I'm already doing this with an hx4700, but the screen is not bright enough for outdoor use.)
