I'm sorry if this has been asked before- but
Please can somebody help me, I'm on my second Tom Tom and I'm having the
same problems.
Story so far
Bought TT on ebay arrived yesterday, Setup home and was able to navigate to a destination (Brill I thought) Did a backup this morning - problems began,
The screen froze - had to reset. Switched on and only went to TomTom
screen(Black screen) then to TT 910 screen then to TT find your way the easy
way screen and just froze there.
Tried TomTom support help online but I couldn't find an answer to my
problem.
Had the same problem with my first TT. Then I was told to save everything
from the Hard drive to my computer and reformat the hard drive, this I did
but was unable to then set my HOME position. So I sent it back.
It is obvious that I'm doing something wrong but I cannot find out what??
How can I get back to the navigate Srceen - please ????
I'm going to France on holidays on Wednesday and I would like to have a
working TT
Thanks

It would have been better if you had done a Backup before you had done anything else.
Did you use HOME to do the Backup, or Windows Explorer?
Did you use Safely Remove Hardware before disconnecting from your PC?
The Reset. Did you give it a full 30 secs? And are you sure the pin you used was small enough to fit in the tiny hole in the base? _________________ Richard

As I read it, that issue was with a previous ONE?
EricFish Have you applied any updates to the unit, is it visible in HOME? _________________ Darren Griffin |

It is a bit late now to tell be to do a backup before I use it. In the quick start guide it does say to do a back up but not straight away it is on page 24.
I did use TomTom Home to do the back up.
I'm not sure if I did go throught the correct procedure to disconnect - I felt I had done it properly
I think the correct version is on the HOME disc.
Should I save all the files to my hard drive and reformat the TomTom and then transfer them back.
I did this last time and was unable to reset my home position - hence I sent it back |

Whoa, before you go ony further we need to establish where you are at.
Can you see your device in TTHome when connected?
What happens when the device is switched on (not connected to PC).
Have you tried a rest? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I've had this problem myself with the screen freezing on the "find your way the easy way screen", with some help from the seller who I bought the tomtom of I seem to have sorted the problem.
Try this with your tomtom linked to your computer and switched on:
On your pc go to folder options and make sure that hidden folders and files are showing, I'm not sure if there are any hidden files on tomtom but best play it safe.
Now copy all the files and folders from the tomtom disc to a folder on your computer.
With this done go to My computer and right click on the tomtom disc and select format, and format the tomtom disc.
With the tomtom disc formatted copy back to the tomtom disc only the map folders the voices folder the Zip folder and the Loquendotts folder.
Now from TomTom Home download and install the latest version of tomtom (version 6.525).
Now you need to compare the folders and files on the tomtom disc with the folders and files in the backup folder you made earlier and replace to the tomtom disc any folders or files that are not on the disc.
I've done this today and it seems to be working OK.
Good luck. |
